Selecting & Purchasing Wedding Flowers
by Sally Gregg, Silk & Sands Florist
The floral industry has changed in the past two decades and with it created a vast market with an endless selection of products from all over the world.
The computer has unlimited possibilities for seeing many varieties of flowers and greens and the ability to purchase them directly. This is unwise and unpredictable since like all perishable products are susceptible to weather conditions, airport delays while packed in hot cargo holds and poor grade products substituted by unscrupulous growers. This can spell disaster by the time the flowers arrive the week of the wedding. It may be too late for a replacement or to order from the local florist. When dealing with a reputable local florist they accept responsibility by dealing with their wholesalers who see that products arrive on time, in excellent condition and are a top wedding grade product.
The computer on the other hand can educate the BRIDE to types of flowers available, bouquet styles and websites of local florists. These websites usually include samples of weddings they have done and offer an extensive resource section of other services and vendors to help in the planning and resulting in a beautiful wedding album to capture the memories for years to come.
